Big day for pop up designs as we managed to visit CompassionUK headquarters to pay our first big charity contribution, then invited as guests of Ben Goss to the launch of “the chaffinch trust” charity at Buckingham Palace, London. There we could network with others who have similar ambitions to help disadvantaged countries and people. After Police checks to get the campervan into Buckingham Palace we were told it was the first time a campervan had been inside! Not sure the police needed to check out our wet wetsuits from the top box and the surf kayak, unload the bikes etc but they did!
The most exciting thing for Fiona and I was the discussion on Paul Dymott’s concept (Philanthropy Officer at Compassion UK) of building a vocational workshop for one compassion project giving some older sponsored children a chance to get a career in woodworking etc. Now awaiting a compassion project somewhere in the world who wants to be funded!! We looked at one that was already set up in Honduras as an example of what we want to do.
Fantastic to meet up with old tutee from Gordonstoun, who works at Compassion Terence Lee and discuss the possible project over a coffee and see what is possible in the future early 2017 we hope.
